RAWCS is Rotary Australia World Community
Service.
My role is Chairman of the
RAWCS committee for District 9830, which
includes all 50 Tasmanian Rotary clubs.
The programs of RAWCS include overseas
volunteer building teams, the collection of
unwanted goods for shipment to needy
overseas countries, and Rotarians Against
Malaria (RAM), which is programs to prevent
and eradicate Malaria.
Tasmanian rotarians are actively involved
in a project in Lautoka Fiji building low
cost shelters (permanent homes, named "Rotahomes")
for destitute Indian families. Approximately
60 District 9830 members will be travelling
to Fiji to work in calendar year 2005.
The links on the left hand side of this
page below are to documents provided by
project organiser Peter Drysdale updating
progress on the Rotahome project. The FAIM
Field Manual is an important document for
every team member to read before leaving,
and contains general information for
volunteers regarding work, accommodation,
meals, security and many other things. The
most recent Despatches are up to date
reports on building progress, current
problems and immediate needs for materials
and tools. Team leaders of each group should
ensure they are up to date with these.
The documents are word format, and can be
viewed in a web browser or downloaded to
your own pc for printing. (Right click and
"Save Target As") Note that Word
documents are a little slow to load in web
browsers, please be patient.
